Obituary of BARBARA CARTER

Barbara Jo Carter passed away peacefully at her home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 24th, 2012.
She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 5th, 1932 to Emil and Josephine Wyatt. Barbara graduated from Ada High School in 1949 and married Doyle Carter on May 27th, 1949. She and Doyle had four children and enjoyed 49 years together before Doyle passed away in 1998. In 1972, Barbara finished her college degree with a BA in Education. She went on to enjoy a long, fulfilling career teaching English Literature and Library Science at Kiefer, Meeker and retired from Mounds High School. She married Bobby Sheets in January of 2004 and moved to Sapulpa. Bobby passed away in 2005.
Barbara led a very full life of traveling, teaching, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Always ready to entertain with a joke or a story, she loved to make people laugh.
She is survived by her brother Dr. David Wyattt and his wife Kate of Santa Barbara, CA; her children Emilee DeLong and husband Tom of Sapulpa, OK; Dr. Steve Carter and wife Carolyn of Colorado Springs, CO; Connie Carter of Sapulpa, OK; Dr. Kevin Carter and wife Deanna of Scottsdale, AZ. Her grandchildren are Daniel DeLong and wife Brooke of Sapulpa, OK; Dr.Natalie Jones and husband Luke of Colorado Springs, CO; Haylee LaFevers of Jenks, OK; Derek Carter and wife Kayce of Amarillo, TX; Marty White and wife Tiffany of Quinlan, TX; Julee DeLong of Birmingham, AL; Linsey White of Colorado Springs, CO; Karlee Carter of Los Angeles, CA; Kimber Carter of Scottsdale, AZ. Her great grandchildren are Gracie DeLong, Trey LaFevers, Annie DeLong, Garret White, Logan DeLong, Morgan Carter and Josie Jones with three more on the way!
The family would like to give a special thanks to Harvey and Jean Baber with Diabetes Education of Sapulpa and Saint Francis Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, July 28th at Praise Fellowship Church, 201 S Water, Sapulpa, OK.
