Obituary of Mary Louise Gavillet

Mary Louise Gavillet was born August 23, 1934 in Carthage, Illinois to parents Floyd and Mabel Gavillet and passed on December 12, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital as her great-grandson Reilly comforted her by singing her a song he had learned in daycare. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Mabel Gavillet, brother William “Bill” Gavillet, and son James “Jimmy” Gray. Mary is survived by two daughters Terri Moore of Tulsa, OK and Trula Stalets of Decatur, Illinois, son Gary Gray of Tulsa, OK, Grandchildren Dustin Cale, Chris Cale, and Nick Moore of Tulsa, OK, Misty and Bob Gray of Decatur, Illinois, as well as 8 wonderful Great-Grandchildren. Mary was a loving and very loved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. During her life, Mary was a paralegal for many years which she retired from in early 2015. She was also a wonderful pianist and piano teacher from the age of 16, she got to travel the country selling and playing the piano and even in played in a few bands in her time. She became a well-known piano teacher within the Tulsa community and some would even say she was one of the best. She had many students that she loved and they loved her just as much. Music was always a passion that she has kept alive by teaching her students, some of which have moved on to be great musician’s. Mary had many pages in her life’s novel but, her most prized pages would be those of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the motivation that helped her stay strong through the rough times and helped her fight many battles she faced with her health even up to her dying day. She even got one of her biggest wishes which was to visit Hawaii that she had wanted to do for many years. Those are the great and wonderful pages in her story that her family and friends will always remember her by. Mary loved everyone she met and they all loved her! She had many cherished friendships and she loved when they would get together for lunch or even just a cup of coffee to talk about days gone past. She could spend hours talking with them, some of which she is now reunited with and we’re sure they are talking up a storm! Although our chain is broken now, we know that it will be relinked once we meet again. Rest in peace and watch over us beautiful angel until that time comes.
