Obituary of Michael Andrew Gordon

Michael Andrew Gordon, 61, of Sapulpa, OK, passed away December 17, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Michael was born July 8, 1954 in Tulsa, OK to Sammie Gordon & Grace (Bates) Starr. After an extensive record with the US Military and many accomplishments, he married Joyce Edgington on September 3, 1992 in Las Vegas. Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dogs and cats. He was known for his kind heart, strength, loyalty, compassion and sense of humor. He loved hunting, fishing, cleaning his guns and telling stories. He was a man that was bigger than life who had a handshake that was as strong as a vise and a heart as pure as gold. Michael achieved too many accomplishments during his life to list them all but here are some of his proudest achievements. He was in the Army from 1969 – 1978. Bravo Company 75th Rangers 3rd of the 509 in Minz Germany; 509 Airborne; Presidential Honor Guard; Tomb Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; Crack Airborne Unit; Counter Terrorism Unit; Ranger School in 1972; Part of NATO Peace Keeping; More than 700 total jumps from balloon, airplane and helicopter. He also did Spirit of America twice with Honor Guard. He was a NRA Firearms Instructor, retaining wall installer, consultant and police officer. He was a 32nd degree Mason and his passion later in life was as a prospector. Michael is survived by his wife Joyce; children Christie Propps and partner Timmy; Eden Wallace and husband Chris; Larry Edgington and wife LaMia; grandchildren Carlye Propps, Daryn Propps, Bryson Propps, Kinsley Southard, McKayla Southard, Kennedy Wallace, Christopher Wallace and Ellie Edgington; father-in-law Maurice Uhrmacher and mother-in-law Marjorie Uhrmacher; siblings Larry Ford; Bill Ford; Peggy McDonald; Paul Gordon and wife Susan; Mark Uhrmacher and wife Shellie. He was preceded in death by his parents Sammie Gordon and Grace Starr. For those that knew him, he had a million one liners. Some of the favorites are: “Write when you get a full time job,” or when asked if he needed anything, “A million dollars, a fast car and a good lawyer.” A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
