Obituary of Hazel Louise Rush

Hazel Louise Rush was born to Thomas Oscar Arnold and Edith Enola Dickerson Arnold. She passed from this life on March 16, 2016. She was 87 years old and resided at Evergreen of Baptist Village in Owasso, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by older brothers Leonard and George, and older sisters Martha and Edna and younger brother Bobby. She was a graduate of Prairie Grove High School and married Robert Lee Rush on May 17, 1947. They moved to Tulsa in 1951, and Robert started working at Douglas Aircraft on March 11, 1951. Their union produced two children, Connie Marie Rush and Roya Camille Keyan. Tragically, they lost four sons in infancy. They divorced in 1974 after 28 years of marriage. She was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother and active member of University Methodist Church and later Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa. She was nearly 40 when she became one of the very first employees at Tele-Check Services and later became Collections Manager and Assistant Credit Manager for Gray’s Jewelers in Tulsa. She enjoyed reading the bible, attending church and church related activities and most of all spending time with family and friends. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending their school and sporting activities and hobbies. She was an accomplished singer and excelled at it, favoring gospel and country and western. She grew up singing while her brother Leonard accompanied her on his guitar. She enjoyed watching sports and was a successful basketball player in high school. She loved bowling with her husband, Robert. She is survived by her daughters Connie Rush and Roya Keyan: grandchildren Jeff O’Connor, Jessica Thompson, Jonathan O’Connor, Alexander Keyan, and Micah Keyan: great-grandchildren Taylor and Rush O’Connor; Payton, Kaylee and Grady Thompson; Nicholas and Matthew O'Connor; and Vincent Keyan.
