Obituary of Fredrick Maurice Smith
Fredrick M. Smith, 71, passed away on March 24, 2016 in Owasso, Oklahoma after a lingering illness. Rick was a member of St. Therese Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma. He volunteered for the Navy at age 18 and served as a Corpsman in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon, and National Defense Service Medal. His tour of duty in the military was ten years. Upon returning home, he held various positions in law enforcement. His whole adult life was focused on the value of protecting and serving others. He cherished his family and friends.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Amy Smith. He is survived by his wife Heather, and his children, Teresa Smith-Pendleton of Mesa, Arizona, Lisa Smith of Florence, Arizona, Michelle Bouma of West Des Moines, Iowa, Kenny Bruce of Ava, Missouri, and Chad Smith of New Braunfels, Texas, and his three sisters, Sandy Witt of Altoona, Iowa, Kathy (Dave) Quillin of Panama City, Florida, and Judy (Dan) Mitchell of Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
