Obituary of LaWanda Kay Collins
LaWanda Kay Collins was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on January 26, 1945 to parents J.T. Braswell and Novaleen (Faust) Braswell. She married Joe Collins on January 24, 1969. The couple was blessed with one son, Chris and two grandchildren, Caylin and Cale. She worked as a secretary and retired from OSBI after 18 years of service.
LaWanda loved to travel with her husband. She loved cruising and went on at least a dozen cruises. Her first love was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them. She taught her grandchildren to cook and to sew, she played board games with them and took them on her travels introducing them to scenic and historic sites.
She took her final journey April 5, 2016 to Heaven where she met her Lord and reunited with parents J.T. and Novaleen Braswell and sister Mary Hensley. She leaves behind to cherish her memory husband Joe Collins; son Chris Collins; grandchildren Caylin and Cale Collins; siblings Judy Borton; Mike Braswell; Tommy Braswell; Jackie Rogers; and Susan Blakely; as well many other family members and friends. She was greatly loved by her family who will always remember her as the most beautiful woman, the greatest mom, an angel and the sweetest woman they have ever known.
Funeral Services are scheduled at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Lakeside Baptist Church (1641 Basin Road Mannford, OK 74044). Visitation is Wednesday at Green Hill Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.
