Obituary of Wilma Jean Brooks

Wilma Jean (Sexton) Brooks, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at home in Tulsa, OK. She was born April 10, 1933 in Hollis, OK to W. C. and Julia “Birdie” Paulk Sexton. Wilma was raised on a farm in Southwest Oklahoma, along with her three sisters. Wilma loved her family and exemplified the true spirit of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was blessed to enjoy special relationships with all three of her sisters and her best friend, Sue Petzold. Wilma worked outside the home in various retail positions to help support her family until her health declined. She loved reading recipes and making them for family and friends. Wilma was a longtime resident of Altus, OK but spent the last 15 years in the Tulsa area. She was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, OK. Wilma is survived by two daughters, Jolene Tellgren and her husband Jim of Blair, OK and Shari Huff and her husband Steve of Tulsa, OK and one stepson, Raymond Brooks and his wife Cathy of Blair, OK. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Jenna Tellgren, Jenean Tellgren, Robert Tellgren and his wife Tia, Justin Brooks, Jennica Brooks, Mackenzie Huff, Marlo Keller and her husband Matt, Stuart Huff and his wife Stephanie. Wilma also has 18 great grandchildren. Wilma is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Ayers of Altus, OK and Glenna Jones and her husband Sterling of Hollis, OK. She also has many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Brooks, her parents, her sister and brother in law, Avanell and Jim Conger, her brother, Curtis Sexton and her brother in law, Troy Ayers. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, OK. Visitation and viewing will be held at the Church prior to the service from 9:30 am until 10:30 am.
