Great-great nieces Laura Soghomonian-Paine, Brielle Black, and Sophia Black. Great-great nephew Landon Black. In Fern’s younger years, she worked in the Hershey Chocolate Factory, and later joined the United States Navy. Although, her stint in the military was short, her love for the Navy, this country, and other military branches was lifelong. She was a true patriot that served her country with loyalty and honor, and carried those beliefs with her throughout life. After receiving a honorable discharge from the Navy, she became a housewife and raised her daughters. Returning to work after her daughters were teenagers and retiring from AMI in Broken Arrow, OK. Fern was an active member in church and loved spending time with friends and family, and anyone that knew Fern well, knew that her best-friend Linda Dodson was never far behind. Fern enjoyed spending time with best friends, Jim and Linda Dodson camping, playing games, having dinner, or taking trips. She made her final home in Beggs, Oklahoma, with oldest daughter Renee, and near youngest daughter, Lynn, on what is fondly called God’s Mountain. Her decision to take up residence in Beggs was driven by her desire to be close to church, her family, and the serene rural life that she knew as a child. Fern left her life on Earth to be with her family in Heaven on May 7, 2016, spending her first Mother’s Day behind the pearly gates; preparing her heavenly home, and waiting to welcome those she loves. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Church of God of Prophecy in Beggs, OK. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
