Obituary of Robert E Lee

After a long battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, Robert Edward Lee of Sapulpa, Oklahoma went to heaven on May 7, 2016 at the age of 61. He passed away from complications from chemo at Cypress North Hospital in Houston, Texas. Once diagnosed with cancer, he never complained, maintaining a cheerful outlook for his future despite the many hospitalizations, painful chemotherapy, and multiple biopsies and tests. Rob was born the middle child of Pelo and Jean Lee both of Sapulpa on April 7, 1955 at Curry Hospital in Sapulpa. He grew up in a large, loving family with loads of aunts, uncles, cousins and loving grandparents on both sides. Rob was an avid lover of animals, sports fan, especially Oklahoma football, a movie aficionado, and a history and classical music buff and loved playing baseball and tennis. Rob attended Oklahoma State University for two years majoring in History and a minor in English. He wanted to teach and coach the high school level of tennis but unfortunately, due to his health issues, he had to return home to have a serious operation of a hernia attached to his heart and his esophagus. After a lengthy recovery he began therapy and rehabilitation and participated in a Tulsa Bowling League. He became such a phenomenal bowler that he traveled the circuit of the semi-pro bowlers for many years, winning trophies and making a good living. Rob then worked Year Round at the Tulsa Fairgrounds managing all the vendors on the Midway, Indoor Arenas, Events Center, and the Horse Races. He was responsible for all money collections and opening and closing the events for special events. During the time Rob was working on his various jobs he spent his spare time digging for artifacts and antiques around Oklahoma and surrounding states. He loved the idea of a good find and sold many relics and rare pieces through the Tulsa Antique and Bottle Club, a group for bottle collectors and antique lovers based in the surrounding areas, as well as having several stores on EBay. Finally, Rob worked for Dr. James Russell, Family Medicine and Emergency Clinic up until December 2013 when he came to visit his sisters Teresa and Linda in Houston, Texas. Rob is survived by his sisters, Teresa Lee Galiazzo and husband Bradley Galiazzo; Linda Lee Cathey and husband Mike Cathey both of Houston, Texas; Raymond L. Lee of McAlester, Oklahoma; Nephew Jeremy Cathey and wife Lynne Cathey of Katy, Texas; Nephew Jeffrey Cathey of Cypress, Texas; and nine great nieces and nephews from the Houston area; and finally by all of his many Wadley, Lawson, Barnes, and Mefford cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Jean and Pelo Lee of Sapulpa; Grandmother Francis Xavier Lee and Pedro Luis Lee of Sapulpa; and Raymond Forrest Ware and Robbie Edrie Ware of Texarkana, Texas; and finally, Nephew Raymond Brent Lee, of Cleveland, Texas. Rob requested to be cremated and interred at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A rosary will be said for him at Sacred Heart Church in Sapulpa at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2016 and a Memorial Service will be held at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15, 2016. There will be an informal luncheon at Sacred Heart Church following the gravesite ceremony. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Ranjay Rackett and staff at Houston Oncology Associates for their excellent care, kindness, and attentive treatment of all patients battling cancer. Rob fought the good fight and remained an iron-willed patient, even in his final hours. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
