I was a tenant of Virgil and Linda's for a good few years and they are the reason I managed to successfully transition from my native UK to the United States.
2 of the kindest people I have ever met, Virgil will be missed terribly.
Rest in Peace Virgil - you are much loved and will always be
Paul

I've known Wayne for over 30 years. I first met him at their El Reno farm. His wife and mine worked at the law office. I can still remember him from our first meeting. I thought to myself, "Now here's a guy that doesn't take backtalk. from anybody!" I liked him right off. It didn't take me long to figure that Wayne was a jack-of-all trade! If Wayne didn't know it, he'd learn it. I remember when he took classes for heating/air conditioning. When the oil business went bust he was doing everything he could to earn a dollar. Just trying to make a living.
I remember the time Wayne and I flew to West Virginia along with two others in our party. We had volunteered to brick a church. We landed in Charleston and then spent well over two hours in a crowded car doing our best to keep occupied. As soon as we got to the church we surveyed the building, did a walk-around and determined what to do first.
Wayne was a take charge type. You didn't have to tell him what to do. He just started doing it. We cleared around the base; sometimes repeating what someone else had done. That happened more than once.
We had bricked close to half-height and broke for the evening. That night, as happened sometimes Wayne started calculating something. He was very hush, hush about it. He just wanted to be sure someone else didn't discover what he was up to.
He let us know the next day he needed some white bricks. He had figured the precise number of white bricks and let the preacher know. So we loaded up, drove to the lumber yard (where all supplies were), and loaded up and back to the church. Fortunately we didn't have to do that much driving. As a sidenote, the pastor drove at least an hour and half one way to pickup kids for church and then take them home. He made this route a total of 4 times each Sunday.
When we got back that evening, Wayne continued drawing different layouts. He wanted it to be perfect. And he wanted it to be inspiring to all who would see it.
On the next day he started laying white bricks in with the red.
In two more days it was taking shape. About the fourth day we would see what he was doing. On our next to last day we all saw the completed cross. It was magnificent, majestic, splendid! One could see it clearly from the highway about 75 feet away.
Personal note: I loved Wayne dearly. We were close. We had some great times on his farm in El Reno. We had some great times on our trips. We had some great times watching old westerns. I will greatly miss him.

God's ways are mysterious.
We may not understand this pain and loss,
We may question why Virgil is gone,
but I hope you find comfort in knowing God's way is perfect.
With deep sympathy for the passing of Virgil.
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;
He will never leave or forsake you.
Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged."

Our deepest condolences and warmest thoughts as Virgil was an inspiration to Debbie and myself as his energy and enthusiasm about horses was very contagious.
God gained an awesome soul and we lost a friend and horseman.
Vaya con Dios.
