Obituary of Dorothy J Bonds

Dorothy Juanita Davidson-Bonds was born on May 29, 1942 in Olive, Oklahoma. She went to be with the Lord June 6, 2016 at the age of 74. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents William Lloyd and Bertha E. Gregory; former spouse Lawrence Davidson; siblings Geneva Alcorn, Willard Gregory, Marvin Gregory, Norman Gregory, Harold Gregory and Kenneth Gregory. She is survived by her husband Pete Bonds; sisters Irene Sparks and Pauline Powell; brothers Elvin Gregory; Elzie Gregory and Russell Gregory; children Mike Jeffries and wife Vicki, Bryan Jeffries and wife Rhonda and Bobbie-Keith Jeffries; step-children Robin Jones, Rusty Bonds and Rick Bonds. She also had many grandchildren; Beau Jeffries, Austin Jeffries, Josh Jeffries, Travis Jeffries, Jake Jeffries, Kenneth Wheat, Phillip Wheat, Jennifer Wheat and Robert Lemoine. She also lived long enough to meet her great-grandchildren; Cohen and Louna Jeffries, Logan and Addison Smith and Chase and Kennedy Wheat. Dorothy grew up picking cotton with her family and as a result she became a very grounded individual. She retired as a Class “A” Wire Technician from flight safety. She waited 68 years to meet the man of her dreams, Pete Bonds. Pete and Dorothy enjoyed traveling to many exotic places; among them were Cozumel, Belize, the Bahamas, Alaska and Amelia Island. She loved her extended family and was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker extraordinaire. Dorothy was headstrong and set in her ways, but she always loved to help others. She was an amazing cook and you never left her house with an empty stomach. Her three sons are proof of that. She was always proud of her kids and grandkids. Dorothy was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Foley, Alabama. She was saved at Pleasant View and some of her last words were, “Jesus Save Me.”
