Obituary of Shirley Jane Fuqua

Shirley Jane Fuqua was born August 5, 1938 in Virgil, Kansas and went to be with the Lord July 17, 2016 at the age of 77. Shirley married Melvin Fuqua and the happy couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on July 2nd, 2016. The family was blessed with the addition of two daughters, Cathy and Colleen. She worked as a Supervisor at Bama Pie Production. Shirley struggled with diabetes her whole life but would do anything for you. She was loving, caring and a little bit sassy. She wanted people to feel welcome and was always trying to feed and take care of anyone who stopped by. She was the seed that created the family tree. Shirley was preceded in death by one stillborn baby daughter. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Fuqua; daughter Cathy Cooper and husband Dana; daughter Colleen Lowe and husband James; grandchildren Nick Lumly, Ben Lumly, Rebecca Campbell, Jessie Plum, Joshua Thomas Lowe and their families including 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Betty and Mary; brother-in-law Jack Fuqua and wife Jeannie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley’s family loved her greatly and will miss her warm and caring spirit. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
