Obituary of Lorell Lafayette Davis
Lorell Lafayette Davis, of Sapulpa, made his trip through the pearly gates of Heaven to be with the Lord on July 24, 2016, at the age of 89. He was born January 16, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Stober M. Davis and Bertha Cox Gay.
Lorell attended Booker T. Washington High School and then graduated from Langston University. He served in the U.S. Army, a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division, and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and was awarded a World War II Participation Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal. After completing his military service he worked as a Commercial Landscaper.
Lorell enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He was an OU Sooner fan and was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association. He was also a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Sapulpa.
Lorell was preceded in death by his mother Bertha Gay; father Stober M. Davis; and brothers Stober M. Davis, Jr.; and John Wayne Davis. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Lusta A Davis, of the home; children, Victor Mackey and wife Tonya of Virginia Beach, VA; Sherri Mackey of Tulsa, OK; Ronnald Mackey of San Diego, CA; Ralph Mackey of Baltimore, MD; and Terri Dansby and husband Bernard of Sapulpa, OK. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandchild; and siblings Thomas Davis of Broken Arrow; Richard Davis of Tulsa; Mark Davis of Tulsa; Gwen Davis of Austin, TX; Geraldine Williams of Lewisville, TX; and Margaret Payne and husband Earl of Tulsa.
Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
