Obituary of Edmond R. Gillihan
Edmond R. Gillihan was born January 22, 1924 in Saddle, Arkansas to parents John Riley Gillihan and Alice (Porter) Gillihan. He went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2016.
Edmond was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. He retired from Bartlett Collins Glass, not once, but twice. He was a hard worker and stayed busy all the time working on something, mowing his grass or someone else’s. He liked to garden, he cleaned new home building sites and believed if he didn’t stay busy working he would get sick. He could most often be found working on something from daylight until dusk.
He was a friendly, happy person. He liked people and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was good to everyone. He enjoyed going to Singings and Potluck Dinners at Pickett Church and was always first in line for banana pudding. He was deeply disappointed if there wasn’t any. He also enjoyed his dogs.
Edmond was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice Gillihan; and all his siblings, including twin brother John Gillihan. He was also preceded in death by step-daughter Sharon Passmore. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Joyce Gillihan; son Johnny Ray Gillihan; grandchildren Nicki Chaplain and Matthew Gillihan; great-grandson Doyle Chaplain; stepchildren Terry Lynn Douglas, Keith Douglas, Carl Watson and Charlotte Milligan; as well as numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 5, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens to follow. Visitation is 10 am until 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
