Obituary of Michael Bennett
Michael Dodson Bennett of Sapulpa, Oklahoma was called to Heaven on September 18, 2016 after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 27, 1956 to Eugene B. and Frances Joyce Bennett. He married Nila Marie Hamel on May 12, 1978.
Michael, know to so many as “Mickey”, was a loving, devoted husband, father, brother, son and friend. He served in the Military for 21 years. He worked for SM&P / USIC until his diagnosis made it difficult to work. His life was never short of adventure and he did his best to live it to the fullest. He loved to spend time with his family; teaching his children & grandchildren about life and love. He enjoyed writing, reading, and sharing stories. He spent a lot of time traveling. His love for animals often resulted in new furry family members. He was well respected and loved. His generous nature, sense of humor, and sensitivity to the needs of others will keep his memory alive.
Michael is survived by his wife, Nila; daughters Theresa-Marie (Daniel White), Mary-Rose (Keith Brimeyer), Rebecca; son Christopher; grandchildren Kaden, Colton, Rain, Isabella, Peyton, Addilyn, & Ryley; mother and father-in-law Mary Hamel & Paul Hamel, Sr.; siblings Patricia (Richard Schmitt), Carmen Bennett, Bonita (Tony Miller), Mary “Tuke” Pezzullo, & Jean Wjockewski; sisters & brothers-in-law Paul Hamel, Jr. (Barbara), Rose Hamel, Maurice Hamel (Liz), Kathy Lones (Yancey); and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marty, and twin babies.
His Wake will be held at Green Hill Funeral Home, Sapulpa on September 22 from 5-7 pm. The Rosary will be at 11 AM on September 23 at St. Bernard’s of Clairvaux Church, Tulsa followed by Memorial Service at 12 PM.
