Obituary of James Lamar Harvey

James Lamar Harvey passed through Heaven’s gates October 24, 2016 at the age of 75. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on October 16, 1941 to parents Robert G. Harvey and Marie (Delaney) Harvey. James was a machinist and worked for years at American Airlines where he earned the nickname “Butch.” He was given a 270 Rifle by someone and it was too long for him so he shaved it down and they told him he “butchered” it. He had a great sense of humor and you knew by the twinkle in his bright blue eyes and the look on his face that he was up to something mischievous. He enjoyed humor even at his own expense. Once when he was getting older he tripped getting out of the bathtub and told the story, “You know you’re getting older when…” He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed hunting for squirrel, rabbit, prairie chicken and deer. He told his son to always preserve wild life…that it did well in freezer bags. His family remembers he loved reading and learning and that he was generous to a fault. His family loved him very much and will greatly miss him. James was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marie Harvey and by his wife Jewel Harvey. Left behind to cherish his memories are his children Lila Smith and husband Jeff; Cristie Harvey; and Robert Harvey and wife Cindy; grandchildren Sarah Harvey and Bryan Pahsetopah, Keith Smith, Daniel Harvey and Kristy Carter, Nicholas Harvey and Savannah Yi, Kyle Harvey, Brooke Harvey; Step-grandchildren Aaron Ragsdale, Amber Smith, Ashley Ragsdale; great-grandchildren Teagyn Pahsetopah, Andrew Smith, Robert Ragsdale, Kayden James, and Daniel Harvey; and one brother Charles Harvey. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 10:30 am Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
