Obituary of Ivaene Fay Lawrence

Ivaene “Fay” Lawrence went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2016, surrounded by her family, at her home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Fay was born in San Jose, California on July 31, 1943 to parents Isaac and Mary (Bettes) Cortor. Fay married Louis Lawrence and the couple had 55 years together prior to his passing in 2014. Their union was blessed with 5 children; Pam, Terrie, Randy, Donny and Shanon. Fay worked for Keystone Schools as bus driver for 27 years and loved all the children in her care. She touched many lives over the years, driving children, their parents and sometimes even their grandparents to school. She also worked for the school administration for several years and was a first responder for the Keystone Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years. She never met a stranger. She loved old country and western music, especially Don Williams. She didn’t like to wear shoes and often wore flip flops, even in cold weather. She made the best yeast dinner rolls. Having the rolls at family gatherings was a tradition her family will dearly miss. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and her children. She loved cardinals and hummingbirds. She enjoyed feeding them and also collecting cardinal figurines. There are many wonderful things to say about Fay, but one of the most important things in her life was her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She played a role in raising all of her grandchildren and they often went to her for guidance and advice. She was loved and will be missed by family and friends alike. Fay was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Mary Cortor; her husband Louis Lawrence; her daughter Terrie; and two grandchildren. She leaves behind daughter Pam Avera and husband Jim; sons Rand Lawrence and wife Leslie; Donny Lawrence and wife Beth; and Shanon Lawrence and wife Stephanie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as best friend of many years Marty Dodson. Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:30 am Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Chapel. There will be no public viewing. Burial following the service is at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs, OK. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
