Obituary of Sherman Harvey Lee Heath
Sherman H. L. Heath was born on February 22, 1924, to Walter and Matilda Heath in Beggs, OK. While attending school in 1943, he joined the United States Army and served in World War II. Sherman finished school during his service and honorably discharged in 1946 as a WWII Veteran.
On July 9, 1947, Sherman married Marie Annette Cato, the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen (he often said), and to this union, two daughters were born, Katherine Maxine and Viola Marie.
Sherman was a gifted automotive mechanic and retired from the City of Sapulpa in 1991.
Sherman united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Sapulpa, OK, where he was a faithful member until his health failed. He served several years as a Sanctuary Choir Member, Male Chorus Member, Assistant Treasurer, a member of the Trustees Board, and later named Trustee Emeritus. Sherman was also one of the originating members of the Male Chorus where he famously sang many songs such as, I’m A Hard Fighting Soldier, No Tears in Heaven, and I Want to be at the Meeting, just to name a few.
On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, Sherman parted this life to be with the Lord. Preceded him in death were his parents, Walter and Matilda, grandson, Charles Richard, daughter, Katherine Maxine, three brothers, and three sisters.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Marie Heath, daughter, Viola Heath, brother, Vernell Heath, grandchildren, Lenasha, DeShannon, Dena, Heath Russell, and Charick, six great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
