Obituary of Bobby Jack Smith Jr.

Bobby Jack Smith, Jr. was born September 6, 1952 to Bobby Jack Smith Sr. and Sharron Kay (Cearley) Smith, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He passed away February 2, 2017, in Tulsa, at the age of 64. Bobby’s friends called him BJ. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1971. On May 3, 1980, Bobby married Cynthia Elaine Hicks in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They had 2 children: Sarah and Andy. After 35 years of marriage, they divorced in 2015. BJ attended OSU Institute of Technology and earned a degree in plumbing. In recent months, he had been employed by Brinks Corporation, and he had also worked as a part-time driver for Broken Arrow Public Schools. Bobby liked collecting guns, and reading and discussing politics.

He is survived by: his two children, Andrew and his wife Valerie Smith of Kellyville, OK and Sarah and her husband John Griffin of Bixby, (4) grandchildren, Conner, Carmen and Faith Smith, and Ruth Griffin. He is also survived by his father, Bobby Jack Smith, Sr. of Muskogee, and (2) brothers, Arthur and wife Neshia Smith of Muskogee and Bennett McKalip.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother Sharon McKalip Power, and (1) brother Mark Gerner.
