Obituary of Catherine Juanita Avery

Catherine “Cathy” Juanita (Franklin) Avery went to be with the Lord March 16, 2017. She was born in Western Springs, Illinois July 13, 1933 to parents Agustus Franklin and Elsie (Mensch) Franklin. Cathy spent her life making everyone happy. She was concerned about others until she took her last breath. She committed herself to community service. She served as a PTA leader, with the Girl Scouts, at Sequoyah Pointe as well as others. She enjoyed attending church, playing bingo, arts and crafts, reading, puzzles and soap operas. She was a family oriented person and her family was always the most important part of her life. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Agustus and Elsie Franklin; husband Virgil Avery; brother Ronald Franklin; and great-grandson Brayden Carpenter. She is survived by daughter Carolyn Wilson; daughter Christina Avery; grandchildren Catie Avery, Howard Wilson, Nicholas Wood, Jazmine Wood and Jacob Wood; great-grandson Cason O’Field; sister Evelyn Burling; brother Earl Franklin; and many other friends and relatives. Memorial Services are at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
