Ray Lynn Rainwater (61), Sapulpa, passed away September 19, 2012, at home after a nearly two-year battle against brain cancer. He was born in Tulsa October 11, 1950 to Roy and Edith Crane Rainwater of Sapulpa. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1968 as Senior Class President, a role he cherished and continued throughout his life, organizing many class reunions and other class activities. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, and was a graduate of Brown Institute, Minneapolis. He worked as a radio announcer in Missouri and Oklahoma. He and his wife Sally continued the family business, Rainwater Jewelry, into the second generation in Sapulpa until 2004. He was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in the founding of both SapulpaFest and the Route 66 Blowout annual celebrations. He continued his love of all things rock and roll with a mobile DJ service he provided for many a wedding, reunion, and other happy occasions for many years. For the last several years, with his wife Sally, he worked for the Wilkerson Company, Stuttgart, AR, as jewelry store closeout consultants traveling throughout the United States. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents. Lynn is survived by his wife Sally; sons Scott Rainwater, PhD, Tulsa, and Ryan Rainwater, Sapulpa; brother Ross (Suzanne) of Brentwood, TN; nieces Jenny Rainwater Shockley, Los Angeles, and Sara Rainwater Lane, London, United Kingdom; and cousins Carol Duckert Crosby, Colleyville, TX, and Larry Duckert (Alice), Claremore, OK. For those desiring to make memorial contributions, Lynn was a strong supporter of the Sapulpa Education Foundation, Sapulpa Community Theatre, Sapulpa Historical Society, and the Museum of Pioneer History, Chandler, OK.
