Obituary of Michael Ray Columbus
Michael Ray Columbus of Kiefer, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2017 at the age of 60. Michael was born June 25, 1956 in De Queen, Arkansas to parents Ida Mae Haddock and Nicholas John Columbus of Idabel. Michael was married to Luanna Fox of Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1972 and lived happily together for 45 years. Michael was preceded in death by his brother William lee Columbus, father Nicholas John Columbus and brother James David Haddock. He is survived by his wife Luanna Columbus of the home, mother Ida Mae Haddock of Idabel sons; Michael Anthony Columbus of Albuquerque, NM, Lucas Wayne Columbus and Aaron Ray Columbus of Kiefer, brothers; Johnny Ray Columbus and Nicholas John Columbus Jr., sisters; Patsy Columbus, Sharon Columbus, Carol Neasa and Malena Lewis, and grand-daughter Sheriah Fox and 3 grandchildren, he also had numerous nephews and cousins and friends throughout his life.
Michael retired from Hesselbein Tire of Oklahoma and lived the remaining years in Kiefer with his wife by his side. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He grew up in Valiant, Oklahoma until he went to Jones Academy where he excelled in football as an all-star quarterback for the Hartshorne miners, he also was recruited by the University of Oklahoma. Michael also was a boxer who fought in the golden gloves circuit in Kansas City. Michael graduated from Jones Academy in 1974 and also the school where he met the love of his life Luanna Fox. Michael was a tough loving honest person who never complained about anything and loved his family. Michael loved to watch football and baseball, especially horse racing as he loved to bet on the derby and football games. He was crafty with his hands and could work on anything, if you ever needed anything he was there to help. He will be missed by family and friends as the Lord gained another valuable member in heaven. Yakoke, Michael Ray Columbus!
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Burial is in Fox Family Cemetery, Hectorville, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home.
