Obituary of Charles Sidney Hankins

Charles Sidney Hankins 81, of Kiefer OK met his loved ones at Heaven's Gates on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was born to parents Emery and Eva Ina Hankins on March 14, 1936 in Sapulpa OK. He married Vivian Nelson on May 27, 1955 and they were happily married for 62 years. 

Charles was a member of Kiefer First Baptist Church where he taught the youth until he realized the Jr Boys class was more fun! He and his wife enjoyed taking the boys fishing and on many other activities. He enjoyed going to the Children’s Church Camp Tulakogee and Falls Creek with the church's youth. 

Charles worked as a mechanic for 13 years at Liberty Glass Plant in Sapulpa but in 1969 he opened Hankins Auto Repair in Kiefer doing the work he truly loved. Charles could fix anything with a motor in it and worked for many people in Kiefer and the surrounding areas. He and his wife spent years traveling on band trips with their daughter and the KHS band often following along in his own vehicle with tools in case one of the buses broke down.

Charles is survived by his wife Vivian Hankins, brothers DonRoy Hankins, Donald Hankins, sisters Iva Mae McGuire, Lucille Hancock, daughters Dorthie Parker and husband Randy, Kimberly Barrett and husband Craig and daughter-in-law Debbie Hankins. His grandchildren are `Charles Parker, Erin McGonigal and husband Matthew, Chad Hankins, Cody Hankins, Jennifer McCall, Jake McCall, Zachary Barrett, two Great Grandchildren Ella and Gaven McGonigal and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Emery and Eva Ina (Hurt) Hankins, son David Hankins and brothers Leon, Gene and John Hankins. Father and Mother-in-law Buddy Sr and Dorthie Nelson, Brother and sister-in-law Buddy Jr and Shanon Nelson and sister-in-law Vera Anderson.

Services will be Wednesday, May 24th at 2 p.m. in the Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the Directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.  9182242312   www,greenhillok.com
