Obituary of Dorothy Louise Williams
Dorothy Louise (Hamilton) Williams
Born August 3, 1934, to William Jefferson and Ethyl Merle Hamilton in Tomahawk Arkansas. She was called Home June 9, 2017 from Owasso, Oklahoma.
Dorothy attended Plainview High School in Wichita until August 6th, 1950 when she married Sterling Wesley Williams of Wichita Kansas. She worked at Boeing Aircraft (Blue Prints Division) after marriage. She later raised five children in various parsonages as she and her husband, the late Dr. Reverend Sterling Wesley Williams, pastored first Nazarene churches and later United Methodist pastorates in Texas and Oklahoma.
Dorothy graduated from Cameron State University with a teaching degree, specializing in Reading. She taught 3rd through 8th graders for 22 years in Enid, Pawhuska, Ochelata, Paul’s Valley and Oklahoma City as they changed pastorates. She loved each of the children dearly, and loved teaching.
Her greatest love was for Jesus, having been converted as a 14 year old at a Missionary’s presentation. Her love of Bible study and prayer marked all her relationships and she was very fond of gospel hymns.
At 82, Dorothy was preceded in death by a great cloud of witnesses: her husband Sterling; a daughter, Doris Williams of Owasso OK; a son, Dan Williams of Bartlesville OK; her brother Bill Hamilton of New Orleans LA; as well as a proud ancestry from Kansas, Arkansas and Illinois.
She is survived by her oldest Daughter Jeanne Shaw and husband Eddie (who cared for her in their home her last 2½ years); Sons Mark Williams and his wife Suellen; Greg Williams and his wife Joyce; Grandchildren – Robert (and Shelley) Shaw, Chris (and Angela) Shaw, Angie (and Tani) Hughes, Jeff (and Elsie) Dayton, Sarah (and Patrick) Reed, Apryl Dawn Kaylor-Craddock, Virginia (and John) Dvoracek, Aaron (and Laura) Williams, Emily Farmer and Allen Williams.
