Obituary of Alpha Nadean Harris
Alpha NaDean "Dean" Harris, 88, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Homestead of Owasso, Owasso, Oklahoma.
She was born March 2, 1924 in Jenks, Oklahoma to the late Mary Lilly Warren and Charley Watt Burgett. She was raised in the Gypsy and Bristow, Oklahoma areas and attended the Gypsy School reunions for many years. She graduated from Bristow High School. She married Pomeroy Clayton Harris on November 28, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They lived in the Tulsa area for 54 years until P.C.'s death on October 19, 2005. The Harrises loved the Padre Island, Texas area and spent many years as "winter Texans" there.
Dean was a talented artist and crafter who loved painting, crocheting, and woodworking. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II working on B-29 aircraft. She attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was famous for her delicious fried chicken, apricot fried pies, homemade ice cream, and coconut cream pies. Her grandchildren remember that she always had a box of Apple Jacks cereal in the cabinet for them and that she taught them how to fish. She was a member of the Collinsville Christian Church and later, First Christian Church, Owasso.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Thomas) Watts, Owasso ; one son, Richard (Jane) Harris, Norman; two granddaughters, Michelle (Steven) Holden, Edmond and Angela (Ryk) Jarrard, Tallahassee, Florida; three grandsons, Luke and Miles Harris, Norman and Matthew (Naomi) Watts ,Owasso, Oklahoma; three great-granddaughters ,Tiana Johnson, Bricelyn, Minnesota, Chloe and Siera Jarrard, Tallahassee, Florida; four great-grandsons , Hunter, Troop and Roman Holden, Edmond and Damian Watts, Owasso; two sisters, Retha Childress, Skiatook and Oneita (Marvin) Smith, Highland Village, Texas; one brother, Charlie Burgett, Tulsa; four sisters-in-law, Mary Burgett, Gordon, Texas, June Hardin, Bruceton, Tennessee, Mae Mallard, New Johnsonville, Tennessee, and Beverly Dunn, Perry, Oklahoma; another brother-in-law, Clayborn Harris, Terlton, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Pomeroy Clayton Harris, Jr., her husband, P.C.; four sisters, Carmelita and Hazel Burgett , Alice Rogers, and Linnia Grandgenett; one brother, Harold Burgett, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012 at First Christian Church, Owasso. Interment will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, OK. Arrangements are under the direction Green Hill Funeral Service of Owasso.
She walked with Him and she talked with Him and He told her she was His own.
