Obituary of Martin Zimmerman

Martin Henry Zimmerman was born August 29, 1917 in Hallett, Oklahoma and passed away November 12, 2012 at the Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma. His parents were Berton Greene Zimmerman and Ernestine Wait. He was the fourth of six children and the last survivor of the siblings at the age of 95. Buster, as he was called by family and friends, was raised and educated in Hallett. He met Velma June Wooten of Jennings, Oklahoma. They were married in Pawnee, Oklahoma on February 20, 1940. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. His three brothers also served during the war. Chester served in the European Theatre, Alfred served in Africa and Italy and Jimmy served in the Army Air Force. His career included working as a railroad Switchman and telegraph operator, grocery store owner in Jennings and Sperry and several years as a machinist. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Wilma Zimmerman, Sister-in-law Jeanette Floyd, brother-in-law, Robert G Dunlap and lots of nieces and lots of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Reverend J.W. Wright at the Jennings Cemetery, in Jennings, Oklahoma at 2:00 PM on November 15, 2012. The VFW chapter from Mannford, Oklahoma will presenting military honors.
