Obituary of Wendell Darrell Barnes
Wendell “Darrell” Barnes passed away Monday evening, January 1st, in St. Francis ICU surrounded by family after a long battle with multiple cancer related illnesses. Born in California on Nov. 8, 1945, Darrell married Diana Flynn in 1972 and the two would raise 11 children and foster well over 100 children. Darrell was a long-time Sapulpa resident and served his community with 35 years in the Sapulpa Police Auxiliary. He was a simple man with three strong passions - God, family, and airplanes. Darrell was self-employed in pest control and very much enjoyed the freedom of the job and the lifelong relationships he gained from it. Always the walking handyman encyclopedia, he was leaned on heavily for his vast knowledge on all things practical. Surviving members of the family include his wife of 45 years, Diana, and children - Steve, Lisa, Travis, Tyler, Corrina, Doug, Dallas, Chuck, Samantha, Suzy and Ryan, 4 daughter in-laws, 2 son-in-law’s, 14 grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Services will be held on Friday, January 5th at First Christian Church, Sapulpa, at 11:00am, with a visitation Thursday, January 4th between 4:00-6:00 at Green Hill Funeral Home.
