Thaddeus Sanders Stephens
March 3, 1929 - January 28, 2018
After many years of battling health issues, Thaddeus received the call that it was finally time to make the glorious journey to his eternal home.
He was born to Louie and Murnice (Yarbrough) Stephens in Bristow, OK, and attended Slick Schools.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Brown Creek. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sapulpa, OK where he is affectionately known as "Candy Man."
He served in the United States Army as a sergeant in the Korean War.
His career as a Diesel Mechanic spanned 29 years at Time DC Trucking in Denver, CO. After retirement in 1992 he returned home to Bristow where he enjoyed the remainder of his years celebrating life with his love, Dorothy.
He enjoyed life to its fullest by hunting, fishing, playing dominos and helping others in need. Thaddeus will be most remembered for his famous saying: "I may not always be right...but I'm never wrong."
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Larry Stephens, his brother, Lorenzo Stephens, and sister, Teresa Grant.
He leaves behind, in God's care, his wife Dorothy, Son: Thaddeus K. Stephens (Philippa) of Denver, CO, Daughter: Frances Reed (Michael) of Sapulpa, OK, Son: Joseph Burks (Pam) of Sand Springs, OK, and Daughter Lydean Chase (Peter) of Denver, CO. Also, Cousin and Best Friend, Bufford "Bill" Yarbrough, 11 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great, Great-Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Feb 2 from 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church/Sapulpa 412 N. 7th, Sapulpa
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb 1 from 10:00 to 8:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home, Sapulpa 400 East Teel Road, Sapulpa
Thaddeus's Final Resting Place at Magnolia Memorial Gardens 130 West 8th, Bristow
