Obituary of Thaddeus Stephens

In Loving Memory of...

Thaddeus Sanders Stephens

March 3, 1929 - January 28, 2018

After many years of battling health issues, Thaddeus received the call that it was finally time to make the glorious journey to his eternal home.

He was born to Louie and Murnice (Yarbrough) Stephens in Bristow, OK, and attended Slick Schools.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Brown Creek.  He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sapulpa, OK where he is affectionately known as "Candy Man."

He served in the United States Army as a sergeant in the Korean War.

His career as a Diesel Mechanic spanned 29 years at Time DC Trucking in Denver, CO. After retirement in 1992 he returned home to Bristow where he enjoyed the remainder of his years celebrating life with his love, Dorothy.

He enjoyed life to its fullest by hunting, fishing, playing dominos and helping others in need.  Thaddeus will be most remembered for his famous saying: "I may not always be right...but I'm never wrong."

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Larry Stephens, his brother, Lorenzo Stephens, and sister, Teresa Grant.

He leaves behind, in God's care, his wife Dorothy, Son: Thaddeus K. Stephens (Philippa) of Denver, CO, Daughter: Frances Reed (Michael) of Sapulpa, OK, Son: Joseph Burks (Pam) of Sand Springs, OK, and Daughter Lydean Chase (Peter) of Denver, CO.  Also, Cousin and Best Friend, Bufford "Bill" Yarbrough, 11 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great, Great-Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
