Obituary of J.C. Hunt

Please share a memory of J.C. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our Dad, J.C. Hunt was born in Hester, Oklahoma on February 12, 1919 and passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. J.C. went to serve in the U.S. Army on March 5, 1945 returned home with an honorable discharge as a Tech Sergeant on October 23, 1946. He retired from Liberty Glass Plant where he was a mold maker and machinist for 42 years. Many of you probably knew that our father was the Sunday School Secretary for our church for 30 years. He and our mother became Christians while living in California in 1950. He loved our Lord. They were married on September 30, 1939, 73 years ago. Our Mom and Dad loved to go camping and fishing and went on many vacations. In fact, they have been to every state in the Union except Alaska. They have also been to Canada and enjoyed many trips with their best friends Opal and Lawrence Kelley. Some people knew our father was a "Mr. Fix-it." He had a genuine willingness to help anyone who asked him for help. He worked on cars, appliances and anything that had an engine or was electrical. If he couldn't find the part to fix it, he sometimes made it himself with a lathe he had. He wasn't always successful but was willing to try to fix anything you would bring him. He also enjoyed putting out a garden each year. Many didn't know but he also enjoyed playing, what he called a fiddle, and also could sing. Something not many people knew was that he loved animals and would have liked to have been a veterinarian. After his retirement, he began to do oil paintings with our church painting class and did very well. He made many things out of wood from furniture or shelves, to all kinds of crafts for Tole Painting which he did the painting himself. He was very talented in many ways. I thought our Dad could do just about anything. J.C. is survived by his loving wife, Zelma Edith Hunt; his daughters, Judy Ann Kendall and Donna Jo Barnes and son-in-law Mike Barnes; grandchildren, Michelle Johnson and Daryl, Darry Kendall and Brian Barnes and Stephanie; great grandchildren, Dalton Barnes, Drake Barnes, Abby Barnes, Jessica Johnson, Danielle Johnson, and Kyle Kendall. We will all miss him dearly.
