John Stice was born on September 23, 1934 to Novia (Pete) Stice and Goldie Estes in Chandler, OK and passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Freeda Reinhart Stice and 4 children; Debra Wells, Dale Stice and his wife Linda, Phyllis (PJ) Smoot and her husband Bill, and Vernon Stice. He was also the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
He is also survived by his brother, Jim Stice of Santa Ana, California; his brother Jack Stice of Catoosa, OK and his sister Judy Cargill of Cushing, OK.
The funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11 am at Faith Baptist Church near Slick, OK with a graveside service following at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa, OK with Reverend Derrick Carney officiating.
John graduated at Kellyville High School in 1953 and worked at area ranches until he went into the army in 1957. He was stationed at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hood while in the army until 1959.
He then returned to Kellyville and married Freeda Reinhart. They had 4 children together and purchased their current home in 1976. John worked at Unit Rig for many years and retired in 1999.
Throughout all of his life, John enjoyed working with horses. He always had a horse or two around to mess with. He had a stud horse; Golden Excuse or Yellow Man as he would call him, which sired many colts throughout the surrounding communities. He loved going to the Sales and looking for another project, you might say a horse, a mule, sheep, goats, chickensetc.
He was always busy whether it was just visiting a friend with his wife's cinnamon bread in hand or taking fresh eggs to a neighbor. It did not take long and he would know all about your family and your family history and would never forget it. With the horse altering he did in his spare time, he helped to control the horse population in Creek County and surrounding areas until the day before he passed. He loved people and never met a stranger. The only thing he enjoyed more than horses truly would be the way he loved his family. He and Freeda just celebrated 50 years of marriage in September with a party in Kellyville. He never walked out of the house without kissing her and telling her he would be right back. His children and grandchildren also meant the world to him. He was always telling someone of there accomplishments and when the great grandsons came along, that just added another light to his life.
Husband, Daddy , Grandpa, we love you and will miss you so much and if Yellow Man is in heaven too, enjoy the ride!
