Elva Rongey Obituary

Elva Lou (Taylor) Rongey of Kiefer, OK went to be with the Lord February 26, 2013. She was born in Boynton, OK on January 15, 1926 to parents, Evelyn (Hobbs) Taylor and Charles Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Don Edward Rongey; her step-mother, Nancy Taylor; sisters, Billie Turner and Elaire Cook; and brother, Reverend Gary Taylor of Claremore, OK as well as Ada Hightman, of Kiefer, OK, who raised her upon the death of her mother Evelyn. Former Husband, Ira E. Rongey and Elva Lou were married April 15, 1946 and as a result of this union, their children were born.


She is survived by her daughters, Sharon & (Robert) Atkins of Newnan, GA, Linda & (John) Surmont, Joyce Rongey, Janette & (Donald) Ashford, Mary & (Mike) Shadowens; her son, Ira E. (Eddie) & Tashia Rongey, all of Kiefer. Grandchildren, Robert III & (Cathy) Atkins of Newnan, GA, Avery & (William) Warren of Dallas, TX, Scott & (Tasia) Surmont of Okataha, OK, Kristen & (Gary) Hudson, Dennis & (Jennifer) Ashford, Carrie & (Jayme) Buck, Mark & (Lori) Shadowens, Marty & (Becky) Shadowens, Renea & (Jeremy) Garrett, Dominic Rongey, Taylor Rongey, Dalton Rongey, Austin Rongey all of Kiefer, Ira Rongey III & (Whitley) Rongey of Broken Arrow, OK; brothers, Reverend Charles & (Pat) Taylor of Richardson, TX, Don & (Shirley Taylor of Shertz, TX; sisters, Rita Taylor, Patty & (Wayne) Wallace all of Claremore, OK and Vivian & (late husband Rev. Thomas) Craighead of Cilo, MI. She is also survived by her many & dearly loved nieces & nephews.


Elva Lou "Meme" had great grandchildren: Caroline & Callie Atkins of Newnan, GA. Hadley Warren of Dallas, TX, Brody & Brynn Surmont of Oktaha, OK. Gavin & Grayson Hudson, Julia & Trenton Ashford, Jaylee & Cooper Buck, Lexy & Marcus Shadowens, Brooke, Blake & Sergio Shadowens, Destiny Epperson, Braden Mooney & Jaylinn Garrett all of Kiefer, OK.


Elva Lou attended Kiefer High School and graduated in 1945. She was a lifetime member of Kiefer First Christian Church and lived in Kiefer all her life. "Meme's" sincerest prayer in life and the desire of her heart was that her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren would have a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and covenant together to meet again in heaven.


At her age of 87, "Meme" could still remember each & every birthday of her entire family. She served her Lord and Savior all her life & was instrumental in leading many to attend church & follow the Lord! She will always be remembered as "Meme" to everybody she knew & will truly be missed but had worked hard to earn the privilege to enter those golden gates & free from all her pain & suffering from all her broken bones.


Visitation for family & friends will be February 28, 2013 from 2 pm until 9 pm and March 1, 2013 from 9 am until 9 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home. Family will be present at funeral Home to receive visitors on Friday from 6pm to 8pm. Services will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 am at The first Christian Church of Sapulpa. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa. 9182242312 www.greenhillok.com

The family would like to thank Meme's excellent caregivers for making sure she got the best care available: Faye Meadows, Cindy McKenzie, Donnita Speak, Kristen Hudson, Renea Garrett, Jennifer Grimes, Margene Dunivant, Whitley Rongey, Cindi Smith & Dee Howard, They were Meme's angels on earth. We would also like to thank our Pastor Aubrey & Ina Roberts and the Kiefer Fire Dept. for all their help.
