Obituary of DONNA POTTS

Please share a memory of DONNA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Potts was born August 13, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Paul and Agnes Ames. Her rebirth occurred on March 9, 1939 at 11 years of age. Mom married Chester Potts on June 14, 1947 whom she met at Open Bible Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. Mom described dad "as a loving husband and best friend" and said that "working together has been the happiest time of my life." They were married for 63 years. Mom was an extremely hard worker. When her children lived at home, it was laundry time at 4:30 or 5:00 am, cooking three meals a day at home, working at the church and teaching Sunday School. She didn't slow down until a few years ago. She was a good cook and a great baker, was famous for her cinnamon rolls, pies, cakes and Sunday roasts. She possessed a giving spirit and the "dad and mom team" helped numerous people over the years (even in retirement), whether it be driving the elderly to church, painting their homes, meals or general cleanup. She loved being a pastor's wife, a mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. She never forgot anyone's birthday or anniversary and crocheted numerous afghans for the family. Mom was full of life, multi-talented, played the organ and piano, was quite the story teller, loved to talk and even rode a moped and bicycle to work in her sixties. Mom was privileged to see major answers to prayer in her lifetime including the healing of her husband of rheumatic fever, David's life spared in Vietnam and the healing of his ears, Les' life spared in a car accident and motorcycle accident, Ron's healing of thyroid cancer, Linda's healing of cancer, provisions of shelter and food for the family at all times, and being able to purchase a home. These are her words of wisdom: Give your best to God; be obedient to His Word; be loving and forgiving to others, be faithful to God; live each day as if it were the last and do your best that day. Mom is now in Heaven where there is no more pain and where she can once again use her voice to praise the Lord! It was never an easy road for her from the challenges of childhood and being a pastor's wife to the battle with Alzheimer's disease. We have been so blessed by Mom and thank God for her and her love to all of us. She is survived by all her children including: David, Marilyn and children; Les, Sharon and children; Ron, Roberta and children; Linda; Don, Corey and children; along with three sisters, Betty Joyce, Sandra and their families.
