Obituary of JESSIE JONES
Jesse Lee Jones, Sr. was born November 20, 1964 to Mamie Mays Jones in Jersey City, New Jersey. On Tuesday, January 17, 2012, Jesse was given the opportunity to leave this temporary place and go home.
As a young boy he was very well liked and enjoyed the game of basketball. He grew to become a very skilled ball player. He never met a stranger whether on the court or off the court.
Jesse graduated from Lincoln High in 1983. He was recruited to play basketball in Oklahoma at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College, Miami, Oklahoma for the '83-84 season, where he met the love of his life, Felicia, and later returned to Oklahoma to marry. Jesse played for NEO one year and transferred to Jersey City State College to play.
Upon his return to Oklahoma, Jesse and Felicia were married on August 31, 1992.
Throughout the years, Jesse always remembered what it was like for him growing up, so he made friends everywhere. Although he and Felicia had eight children at home to care for, he always brought other youth home to make sure they had a warm meal or a place to stay when they had nowhere else to go.
He loved God; he loved his family; he loved his friends; he loved life as well as touched many.
Jesse was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Jones and brother, Walter M. Jones.
