I was raised within feet of the McNabb residence. I remember Mr. McNabb having a very proper dialect and enunciation when he would speak. He was a very intelligent man along with being a kind and highly educated man with a masters degree. He always displayed a tremendous amount of patience with unruly children, even when they were not his own. I have vivid memories of his season tickets to the University of Tulsa Football games in which he was more than generous. I always seemed to have a standing invitation from Mr. McNabb to attend those games with he and his sons, and for that I am truly grateful. I know that my love for college football was spawn from those games at Skelly Stadium! To this day, I can not cheer agains the Golden Hurricane ! I also know that my love for 8oz hamburger steaks with onions fried in and root beer originated from Brownie's Cafe and he seemed to always picked up the tab!
His faith was always evident! Faith without works is dead! He had a tremendous amount of both faith and works! I am positively sure that he is being rewarded for his faith and service. However that is little comfort for his Linda, Chis, Steve, and Tim.
I am very sorry for the family's loss ......... I have no words other than "thank you" for being an important part of my life. Please understand that Mr. McNabb was a special person that made a positive difference in many lives.
Thank you L.O.! Job well done!!

I have known L.O. as long as can remember we both grew up in the Christian Church. He was there for me when I lost my son, my sister, and my father and mother. I believe L.O. lived each day to the fullest even with all his health problems. He brought my three grandchildren to Christ and they were Baptist a year ago, they loved L.O. very much. There was know one more ready than L.O. to meet the Lord. and know he is with our HEAVENLY FATHER and his son JESUS CHRIST,and is having a very interesting conversation. Because of L.O. my faith has grown through out the years. May his family know that he was very loved and respected. I know you are at peace because you know he is with the Lord.

What I wanted to do with this, was to write about an experience with L. O. that would let you know just how much he meant to me, but I couldn't. There isn't a single experience that could ever do that. It was a life time of contact with L. O. and his family. From my early childhood to adulthood. Because I grew up without a father, L. O., along with my grandfather, were role models and the examples of how I believed a man was supposed to be. I want to explain to you how good he was, but anyone that knew him, knows this already. As I look back at all the memories and lessons learned, all I can think is, what a great blessing having him in my life was. RIP.

My family grew up with the McNabb family at the Christian Church in Mounds. My parents, Burk and Bonnie, were friends with L.O. and Linda, and my sisters, Lois and Anita, and I were friends with Chris, Steve and Tim. We spent most childhood Sundays at church with the McNabb family. L.O. and Linda were our Sunday school teachers and vacation Bible school teachers and L.O. was often the pastor at church. I remember L.O. as having a very calming presence and a wonderful sense of humor. He and Linda had an obviously very loving marriage and the McNabb family was always special to my family. L.O. spoke at the funerals of both of my parents. He always had such a loving, gentle, and generous spirit. It was an honor to have known L.O. and the entire McNabb family.

If all men would be more like L.O. McNabb, our community would be a a much better place. He was a true man of God! He was so genuine, never put on airs, or pretended to be someone he wasn't. He greeted you with a smile and was always upbeat. He served our community through his ministry, by serving on the school board, and preserving the history of Mounds in his museum endeveries. He will be forever missed, but not forgotten!

I have literally known L.O. my entire life. . . . I grew up with his boys and spent so much time in his home. He always made me and my brother Jess feel loved like we were a part of his family. He taught us about God in Sunday school and later in Church and also took us on many fun CYF adventures. When the time came in my life to accept the Lord as my savior, L.O. was the one to baptize me. L.O. was a wonderful dear friend to my Granny Jo Pyle. He was always there for her during her life . . . and then helped my entire family when it was time to say Goodbye to her. My husband Kirk and I are very happy to say that just a few months ago on September 14, 2013 he was the one to marry us and bless our lives together in that same little church that I grew up in and that L.O. held so dear to his heart. It is so sad to say goodbye to such a good, kind and loving man. I know he is resting easy in heaven now where he can watch over his family and all of us. I feel certain that Granny Pyle was waiting with a smile to greet her old friend, but we will indeed miss him here.

L.O. has touched many, many lives in such a good way. He and I connected so well because of our faith, love for our family, and our love for history/genealogy. Yes it is definitely hard to see such a great man leave us, but it is comforting to know that we'll see him again one day. I will try my best to honor L.O. and let people know what I have learned from him. I know what God said when they met Sunday " Well done my good and faithful servant". We will all miss him. He will always have a special place in my heart. Love to the family and God bless and protect each of you. P.S. I will miss his laughter.

Linda and Family, I am so sorry to learn of your loss of L.O. I am still appreciative of the wonderful service he did for mom (Bonnie Gilbreath). She enjoyed her time at the church and was involved because of you and L.O. You really did make a difference in her life. I hope knowing this helps you in some small way during your time of grief. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
