Obituary of DORIS EDELMAN

Please share a memory of DORIS to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris M. Edelman, Age 82, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was born May 25, 1932, in Fort Gibson, OK, to Boyd and Thelma Arnett. She passed from this life June 4, 2014, in Colorado Springs, CO at her home in Clairbridge Place. She moved to Colorado in 2013 to be closer to family. Her husband, James E. Edelman, son Jimmy, daughter Mary R. Edelman and brother Bill preceded Doris in death. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Carter, Carolyn's husband Steve, granddaughter Natalie Jones, her husband Luke and great grandchildren Josie and Henry all of Colorado Springs, Co, grandson Derek Carter, his wife Kayce and great grandchildren Morgan and Lexi of Amarillo Texas. She loved her family and taught them to make God and Family the center of their lives. She enjoyed going to church with the girls and was an avid Bible reader. She enjoyed baking and sharing those wonderful cakes and candies for many years. She had to hide them for Christmas gifts but Jim always found one to test out. She loved being a Grandmother. Anytime possible she visited to cheer on the kids in their t-ball, basketball softball and football games. She was their number one fan. Doris always had a beautiful yard of flowers. She was always sharing seeds and cuttings with many friends. Fishing was a hobby of hers but her true joy was catching a bigger fish than Jim. She had craft classes for neighborhood girls. They recycled bleach bottles (before it was cool) as one of the crafts. Who knows how many fathers got a bleach bottle scoop or bank for Fathers' Day. The family wants to express heartfelt gratitude for compassionate caregivers at Brookdale (Clairbridge) Place and Gentevia Hospice. Memorial Services will be at First Christian Church of Kiefer, Ok on Saturday, June 14, 2014. At 10:00 AM. Gifts may be made to Kiefer Christian Church High School Youth Group or to Gentevia Hospice. www.gentivahospicefoundation.org
