Obituary of Mazella Brown
Please share a memory of Mazella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jimmy Brown, Sr. and Lula Mae Seals-Brown started a life together in Ada, Oklahomaafter deciding to serve the Lord, within their union, a beautiful Angel embarked upon this earth in the form of Mazella Brown on Dec. 2, 1932. She was the eldest daughter within this union-one of 13 children.
She attended school at Lorrance, Booker T. Washington, and completed both Cosmetology and Nursing Schools. During her life's journey Mazella operated her own HomeStyle BeautyShop and worked several years; in fact, until her retirement in the Nursing Profession. She was employed by Porter's Nursing Home, Northside Nursing Home, and also Ranch Terrace Nursing Home-all here in Sapulpa.
Mazella surrendered her life to the Lord at an early age; and became totally committed to her walk with Christ-ceasing not until her earthly departure. She was faithful and strived to recruit as many Warriors for Christ as she could. She was always witnessing, sharing her life's experiences and testimonies; just proclaiming and describing the wondrous joys of a life with Christ.
Following the death of her Mother at early age in her life, Mazella soon became a nurturing model for her younger siblings. Her role as a Homemaker went beyond that of her siblings-she became a Mother, Grandmother and confidant to many. Mazella was the Mother of six children; five from her union with Buford Battle and one from her union with Ralph Cullors, Sr. It was not uncommon for her to prepare baked items and full course meals just to share with family and friends. She was an active member of the Keturah Circle Mission, she held several positions within her Church from Sunday School teacher to Sunday School Superintendent. She was also affiliated with the Local Easter Star Organization-Carnation Chapter 76.
She was preceded in death by two sons. Ben Battle and Keith Dale Cullors; both parents; and several brothers and sisters. Mazella leaves to cherish her memory and reflect upon the marvelous testimony of her life three sons, Larry Battle of Tulsa; Billy Battle (Marcella), Cosea Battle; one daughter Emma Lee Battle all of Sapulpa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Batson of Tulsa; MaryAnn Lynch and brother Jimmy Brown, Jr. both of Anaheim, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
