Obituary of Phyllis Partridge
Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis Madelyn Partridge was born January 4, 1941, and passed from this life on September 19, 2008.
Phyllis became a practicing nurse in her thirties, first a Licensed Practical Nurse then later, in her forties, a Registered Nurse, who practiced for over 30 years in Sapulpa. She loved Intensive Care nursing, but also practiced as a house supervisor of Bartlett Hospital and in medical surgical nursing.
After a stroke, Phyllis retired for a year, but then went back to her beloved nursing. After her full retirement, she had to be doing something, so she served as a consultant or relief staff for local nursing homes.
Prior to her nursing career, she served as a foster mother. She took in foster children for many years. She started with younger children, as her children got older she took in teenagers, many of who remember her and some who still call her, Mom. She not only took in stray or abandoned kids, but also animals. Her home was open to anyone and everyone who needed a place to stay. Her doors were never locked.
She was married to one man and had four children. She adoped one son, whom she had the benefit of caring for since he was a few weeks old, as a foster child. To her five children, she was tough. We never saw her for the small petite woman she was.
To her husband, she was the rock. She was the solid force in his life.
Tor her friends she was a knowledgeable and capable nurse. Her driving force in the family will be greatly missed. Her strength and presence will always be remembered.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Carl Partridge; four sons, Micheal, Vincent, Billy and Dale Partridge; one daughter, Lea Ann Cockrell, and nine grandchildren. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Green Hill Funeral Home.
