Bro Charles W. Smith was born March 4, 1927 to Moses and Gertrude Smith in Bogota, Texas. He was the third of four children. After graduation from high school he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Charles married his childhood sweetheart and to this union four children were born. His parents; his wife, Sally; one daughter, Deborah and one brother, W.F. preceded him in death.
Charles moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in March of 1990 at which time he met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Joyce Gallaway. Charles united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1990 where he served faithfully until his health began to fail. He was a member of the Brotherhood Male Chorus and served on the Board of Trustees. He will be sadly missed by many.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce; two sisters, Helen (Theodore) and Vesta both of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. One brother, Lawrence of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Charles Jr. (Sheila) of Omaha, Nebraska. Two Daughters; Francis (Phillip) and Veronica of Omaha, Nebraska. Sister in law, Doretha Meeks of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Three step-children, Gwendolyn of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Fredrick (Sonya) of Lansing, Michigan and Crystal Maxwell of Birmingham, Alabama; 15 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
