Ruby Omega Wainwright passed away Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born May 1, 1925 in Grand Saline, Texas.
Ruby was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana where she met and married Jack Knighten. He was in the service and they lived in Alabama and Texas but they settled and built a home and business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had three children but later divorced. Ruby moved back to Shreveport to be near her mother and raise her two girls. She later met and married a wonderful man named Arvel. Their days and evenings were filled with fishing, fishing, and more fishing. In May of 1972 Ruby received an award for the biggest catfish in the state of Louisiana which weighed 45 pounds and 9 ounces and was 39 inches long from tip to tail. This was her favorite hobby which she loved to do. Arvel preceded her in death in 1977. In 2000 Ruby moved to Oklahoma to live with her daughter, Debbie which is where she lived till her passing. She was a fighter to the very end and we know she is in a better place and will be missed very much.
Ruby is survived by one son, Jimmy Ray Knighten; and two daughters, Ruby Marlene Wright and Deborah Kay Joshlin; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Doris Rowell.
