Obituary of ISABELLE SALMON

     Isabelle Jeanette Salmon was born November 17, 1916 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Bill and Mary Nelson. She passed away on December 22, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.      She married Alphonso Salmon September 1, 1935. They were married 30 years before his death in 1965. She loved to tell the story about her Dad and her dating Alphonso. Several times he asked her "Sister, what do you see in that Hickory Nut Cracker?" After the marriage her Dad and her husband became more like father and son rather than father-in-law and son-in-law. To this marriage were born three children; Mary Ann, David and Neil.      Isabelle was born, raised, educated, married and raised her own family in Coalgate. She lived almost her entire life there until her health dictated the move to Tulsa in 2005.      Isabelle answered to several names of endearment---Mother, Mom, Ma, Grandmother, Grandma, Granny and Izzy to name a few. All of her children and grandchildren agree on one thing---she was not your typical grandmother. She would always tell you what was on her mind but she did it with love and affection.       She was many things to many people. Each member of her family and friends have memories of her that are special to them. Isabelle was a member of the Purple Ladies in Coalgate.        She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Bellew of Sapulpa; son, David and wife, Debra of Sapulpa and son, Neil and wife, Vicky of Coalgate. Nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.       We, the family, would like to express our sincere "Thanks" for the care that was given to her by the staff of Brighton Gardens during her stay there and the nurses at St. John's Hospital during her last illness.
