William David "Bill" Gilbert passed away Friday, January 23, 2009.  He was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 31, 1925 to Clarence Belmont and Adelia May (Morris) Gilbert.   He Lived in Sapulpa for 83 years.  He Joined the Army in September 1943.  Bill served in the Philippine islands and New Guinea with 562nd Engineer boat Maintenance Battalion as Message Center Clerk.  He was honorably discharged in January 1946.  After returning home, he married Nadine Fulks on April 19, 1947, making their home in Sapulpa for 61 years.  He went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in Sapulpa and retired after 33 years of Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Gilbert; four sisters: Burthia Gilbert, Ollia Gilbert, Opal Brewer, and Theda Lytle; three brothers: Earl Fredrick Gilbert, Leon Gilbert and Leroy Gilbert.   He is survived by his wife, Nadine Gilbert; son and daughter-in-law, Billy Dean and Carol of Kiefer, Oklahoma; daughter, Shirley June Parrish of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Melissa Gilbert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Jason Parrish of Sapulpa and Andrew William Gilbert and his wife Tammy of Glenpool, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Bryce, Wade, and Peyton Gilbert of Glenpool, Tommie and Colton Parrish of Sapulpa; sister, Virginia Burgess of Sapulpa; sister-in-law, Leona Gilbert of Sapulpa. Bill was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins, and also an abundance of friends. Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at the first Baptist church of Sapulpa with burial to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  Military Honors will be provided by the VFW 5th District Rifle Squad.  There will be a gathering of family and friends at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:00 PM.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Grace Hospice for their loving care.  The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. Visitation: Visistation for Mr. Bill Gilbert will begin on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 4:00PM and last until 9:00PM that eveing.  On Sunday the visitaton hours will be from 1:00PM to 9:00PM.  and on Monday the visitatio will last from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a family gathering to beging at 6:00 PM at which time the family will recieve visitors. Service: Services for Mr. Bill Gilbert will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday,January 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa with the reverends Mike Doudican and Mike Burns officiating. Cemetery: Burial will take place at Green hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa
