Ray Donald Hamon was born August 23, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Willis Hamon and Minnie Moore Hamon. He attended school in Okmulgee and became a member of the National Guard. As a senior in high school, he joined the United States Navy. While serving in the Navy he became a member of the VP-6 Patrol Squadron, known as the world famous Blue Sharks. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Okmulgee. He began working for the city and attended classes at Okmulgee Tech. Shortly thereafter , he married Earline Brant and began working for Southwestern Bell. He retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of Service. He is survived by his loving wife Earline of 47 years; three children; Donald Hamon of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, David Hamon and wife Charlotte of Edmond, Oklahoma and Dayna Hamon Anderson and husband Brian of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; Shanelle and Kasey Anderson, Hayden, Hudson, Hunter and Harrison Hamon. He is preceded in death by three brothers; Cheesie Hargis, Laurence Hamon, Bobby Hamon; one sister; Pat Booker and special nephew, Skip Booker. Ray enjoyed camping and fishing and especially his precious grandchildren. One of his great enjoyments has been maintaining his close relationship with his special Navy friends and attending the annual Navy reunions. He will be forever missed and loved by all his family and friends. Services will be held on Thursday March 5, 2009 at 10:00 am at Westside Baptist Church in Sapulpa with interment following at Okmulgee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hayden Hamon, Kasey Anderson. Larry Hamon, Lloyd Salyer, Kenneth Hamon and Chris Gentry. Honorary Pallbearer will be Les Baker. The family has entrusted the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home Visitation: visitation is from 9 to 9 on tuesday and wednesday Service: Service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Westside Baptist Church in Sapulpa Cemetery: Okmulgee City Cemetery, Okmulgee, Oklahoma
