Obituary of Tommy Lee Mattison

Tommy Lee Mattison of Tulsa, OK was born February 3, 1940 in Kilgore, Texas to John Paul Mattison and Lorraine (Brewer) Mattison. Tommy passed away in Tulsa, OK on June 22, 2018 at the age 78.

 

He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, brothers Johnny and Ronnie and the mother of his children, Carolyn Henry. He is survived by his son Keith Mattison and wife Shawna of Jenks, OK, daughter Kimberly Davis of Tulsa and sister Bonnie Davis of Midwest City, OK. Grandchildren, Ramsey Mattison, Chase Mattison, Lacey Mattison, Lindsey Tolentino and Kamber Horton. 4 Great grandchildren, Amelia, Alex, Dominick & Brantley.

 

Tommy grew up in Berryhill, OK attending Berryhill schools and graduating in 1958. He began his working career at Carnation Milk and later went to work for Safeway Warehouse until the warehouse closed. Feeling he was too young for retirement, he started his own company Mattco Electric and worked for Tulsa Public Schools until his official retirement. Tommy was a tireless worker and he could fix, build or re-build anything electrical or mechanical. He was self-taught to do almost anything.

 

Tommy was also a devoted volunteer for the youth of southwest Tulsa. He was on the board of Reed Council, Blue T Wrestling and Athletics and Tulsa Junior Wrestling Association. During Christmas season he often played the role of Santa Claus at Reed Recreation Center for the underprivileged children on the westside.  He did not volunteer for notoriety (as he would say) but he did it for the community that he loved. He even donned the Santa suit many times to appear for his grandchildren on Christmas Eve.

 

After his retirement Tommy could be found most weekends at Lake Tenkiller fishing or just sitting on the porch telling stories and watching all the action at the campground and the boat ramp. He was an avid reader and in his later years when he tired of projects around the house you could always find him in his chair with a good book.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Jun 27 from 11:00-12:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Sapulpa 400 East Teel Road, Sapulpa

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jun 26 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM, with family at the funeral home from 5-7 pm to greet friends,at Green Hill Funeral Home, Sapulpa 400 East Teel Road, Sapulpa

Tommy's Interment will take place on Wednesday, Jun 27 at 1:00-1:30 PM at Green Hill Memorial Gardens 400 E. Teel Rd., Sapulpa
