Marlene Ann (Benfield) Vanarsdel

 

 October 7, 1935 – August 3, 2018

 

 

Marlene Ann (Benfield) was born October 7, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Edith (Orman) and Gordon Benfield.  She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1953. She married Bill Vanarsdel on December 4, 1953. Professionally she worked as a head bookkeeper in a local bank and for another Sapulpa business prior to her retirement. Her former co-workers still tell family members how much they enjoyed working with her.

       

Marlene previously served as President of the Sapulpa Women’s Business Association.  She loved singing in the choir at church and she used to teach Sunday School.  Marlene was a den mother for a Cub Scout Troop when her sons were younger.  She also volunteered for a school reading program helping underprivileged youth.  She enjoyed camping, water skiing and travel when she was younger.  Marlene also liked reading, needlework, painting, ceramics.  She loved her family, friends and her dogs. 

 

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nettie Hugg, and her great-grandson Jack Ryan Vanarsdel.  She is survived by her husband Bill Vanarsdel, her sisters Valarie Ryer and Karen Linn; her sons Steve Vanarsdel and wife Carolyn; Gary Vanarsdel and wife Wendy; and Scott Vanarsdel and wife Tara; grandchildren Tiffany Vanarsdel, K. Nicole Cole, Cory Vanarsdel, Ryan Vanarsdel, Cathryn Villines, Cara Vanarsdel and Cami Vanarsdel; great-grandchildren Kaidance, Kase, Ellis and Jay; and nephews Randy Hartman, Rick Hartman, Michael Thurber, Greg Vanarsdel, Bradley Vanarsdel and Timmy Vanarsdel.

 


Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug 8 from 10:30 AM at Canyon Road Baptist Church 8550 S. 49th W. Ave., Tulsa

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug 7 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Sapulpa 400 East Teel Road, Sapulpa

Marlene's Final Resting Place at Green Hill Memorial Gardens 400 E. Teel Rd., Sapulpa
