Obituary of Jennifer Bertrice Sims

Jennifer “Jennie” Sims of Tulsa, age 47, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2018 with family at her side. She was born in Elgin, Ill. on August 13, 1971 to parents Thomas and Lurene Sims. She was the oldest of 3 children.

Jennie lived in Illinois, California, and then Oklahoma, where she lived out the remainder of her life surrounded by many dear friends including her kitties which were children to her. She graduated Owasso High School in 1989 and went on to get a degree in accounting at NSU.  Jennie spent many years of her life working as a waitress until she found her true love in accounting and her final career at Eide Bailly. Jennie’s love for books was easy to see. She always had a book of some sort sitting around and even became a member of a book club for many years. Her love for cats was unparalleled and she spent much of her life rescuing cats and working with shelters.

Jennie was preceded in death by grandparents Robert Sr. and Jeanette Harris, grandparents Ed and Joyce Sims, aunt Christine English, and cousin Johnathan Ballew. 

She is survived by her mother, Lurene Sims of Owasso; father, Thomas Sims of Arizona; sister Bridget and husband Bill Wyatt of Collinsville, brother Prescott and wife Jennifer Sims of Mustang; Carol Ballew and Johnathan Howard of Tulsa; Robert Harris, Jr. of Illinois, Dawn and husband Dave of Illinois; niece Jaylie of Mustang, nephews Joshua and Jordan of Collinsville, nephew Elliot of Mustang; great-nephew Elijah and great-niece Adalynn of Collinsville; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Ward Wiseman Animal Haven in Collinsville. Jennie dearly loved cats and rescued many over the years.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug 22 from 4:00-5:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Owasso 9901 North Owasso Expressway, Owasso
