Obituary of ETTA TIFFT

Please share a memory of ETTA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Etta Mae Tifft passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home in Sapulpa with her family close to her. Etta was born July 25, 1923 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.  Her parents were Martin Vanburen Hoover and May (Sherman) Hoover.  She married Delbert Tifft in 1945; the 25th of this month would have been their 64th wedding anniversary. Two sons were born of this union: Jimmy Dean Tifft and Danny William Tifft.  Etta is preceded in death by her youngest son, Danny, who died in Vietnam in 1968, a proud marine serving his country. Etta is survived by her husband, Delbert and her son, Jimmy.  She also has grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and countless kids who know her simply as "Grandma."  Etta has raised one batch of kids after another, never asking for any pay or compensation at all. Etta retired from Bartlett-Collins Glass Company and from Frankoma Pottery.  She was an active member of Grace Tabernacle Club, an independent Assembly of God, where she encouraged both of her boys to attend and they did. Recently she began walking with her neighbor, Doris.  This became a routine she loved.  Even as she was fighting cancer her walking and the visits from her grandkids, both real and adopted, became the focus of her life.  She missed being able to do this. Now we know she is walking where, when and as much as she wants.   Services for Etta Mae Tifft will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Garden of Our Savior at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  The Reverend Ken Batchler will officiate.  The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.   Visitation: Begining Monday, 10:30 AM thru 9:00 PM. Tuesday 9:00 - 9:00 Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel Cemetery: Green Hill Memorial Gardens, Garden of Our Savior Sapulpa Oklahoma
