Obituary of Sally Elaine Dunbar

Sally (Rountree) Dunbar was born in Mount Carmel, Illinois on August 8, 1942 to parents Louis and Marjorie Rountree.  She went to be with the Lord November 4^th, 2018 at the age of 76.  Sally was a resident of Sand Springs, Oklahoma for the past 22 years. 

She was raised and completed high school in Decatur, Illinois. On February 7, 1961 she married Donald Lee Dunbar at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Decatur, Illinois. Sally and Donald had two children; Troy Dunbar and Brent Dunbar.

Sally worked in the field of optometry and served as a lab manager for over 50 years.  At the time of her retirement, she was employed by Eye Mart Express in Sand Springs, OK.  She was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Through the years, Sally loved attending her son’s and grandchildren’s athletic events.  She enjoyed travelling all over the country and never passed up the opportunity to go camping and fishing. She was very passionate about sports and always enjoyed watching OU sports and her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Sally was very artistic and very skilled in craft making.  She loved holidays and always enjoyed decorating, especially for Christmas.  Also, a music lover, she enjoyed all types of music, but her favorite was always Elvis.

Sally was a caring and compassionate mother and was always there for her family and friends.  Her family will miss her greatly but will always cherish her love and fond memories of the life they shared together. 

Sally is survived by her husband Donald Lee Dunbar; son Troy Dunbar and wife Tracy; son Brent Dunbar and wife Jean; sister-in-law Joann Dunbar; and grandchildren Jessi Carroll, Cole Dunbar, and Megan Thompson.  She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Marjorie Rountree; brothers Richard, Michael, Robert and sister Barbara.
