Obituary of Donald Elmer Huggins

Donald (Don) Elmer Huggins, of Owasso, was born December 10, 1932 to Elmer and Lillie Huggins in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He departed this life at home on December 7, 2018 at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 28 days.

Don was a 1952 graduate of Tulsa Central High School. He served his country in the 11th Armored Cavalry during the Korean Conflict. Don married Kay Carylon (Cole) Huggins on March 31, 1956.  Don worked for American Airlines 43 years, retiring in 1998. Don was a dedicated member of Collinsville Christian Church for many years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge.

He loved to travel, camp, fish, coach little league and was an avid golfer. He was always good for a corny joke or laugh. Don loved watching the Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and the Cubbies. Grandad was his favorite pastime He spent many hours watching cartoons and playing games with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Carylon Huggins of Owasso; his daughter and husband, Debbie and Larry Blansett, Bristow; his son and wife, John and Janice Huggins, Cleveland; grandchildren, Tina and Dorn Permenter, Billy and Stacy Huggins, Andy and Casey Huggins, Brent and Kara Blansett; 9 great grandchildren, Berlin, Declan, Gideon, Fletcher, Roarke, Jillian, Sam, Lady and Harry, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jacqueline Fooshee and Shirley Tichenor, and one brother, Ronald Huggins.

A memorial service will be Friday, December 14, 2018, at Collinsville Christian Church at 11:00 AM.
