Obituary of James Owen

James Michael Owen passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the age of 61 at Glenpool Health Care Center.  Mike was born in Sapulpa on February 25, 1948.  He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1966.  He also graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma where he received his Funeral Director's License.  Mike loved playing music.  He played in the high school band and was a member of The Drifters while in high school and college.  He was a member of the Community Band and Scottish Pipe and Drums of Tulsa.  Mike was also a Past President of The Sapulpa Kiwanis Club.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bill R. Owen, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Owen of Sapulpa, and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Peeler of Guthrie.  Mike is survived by his mother, Patsy Owen of Sapulpa, sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Bruce Karn and Denise and Charlie Morgan all of Sapulpa, 5 nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews.  Service will be 10:00 am Monday, June 1, 2009 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial to take place at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The family has requested that donations be made in Mike's name to the Food Bank at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa.   The Family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.
