Obituary of Harvey Ellis Garrett Sr.

Harvey Ellis Garrett Jr. was born to Harvey and Lurline Garrett on Monday, September 28, 1931, in Beggs Oklahoma, and entered his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday April 20, 2019 at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada.  He was 88 years young.  His nickname was June or “Junior”.  He married Freda Jean Gibson on June 18, 1960 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.  Harvey and Jean were married for 58 years. He raised his family primarily in Gilroy, California and eventually moved to Gardnerville, Nevada to retire with Freda Jean.

The main loves of his life were his wife, children and grandchildren. He spoke very highly of each and every one, bragging how proud he was of each one in their own special way, as only a proud Dad and Papa could possess.  The Garrett name will live on and is shown on a daily basis through the unique traits of strength and family values presented in all of his family.  Many will hold and cherish the values he consistently presented in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Freda Jean, whom he totally adored, two daughters, Debra Lea Higginson and Angela McElroy, three grandchildren, Dakotah Lee Higginson, Hannah C. Higginson and Garrett McElroy.  His nephews Jimmy and Billy Garrett, nieces, Karen Schwemley Pesini, Kellie Garrett Ekeland and Sonja Garrett Jones, and his great nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Calvin Lee, Ray Bill and Joe Garrett, and a sister, Wilma. 

We, the family of Harvey Garrett would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards, food and all acts of kindness shown during the loss of our beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather. 

Funeral services are scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday May 10, 2019 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
